In Class: First Paragraph
A cool blast of high powered air conditioning quickly cools me down as I deliberately stride across the tiled floor, my feet tapping an impatient beat. A wall of color appears to my left as I pass the movie posters of what is playing this week, and what will soon be playing in the future. A wall that promises escape as long as I am willing to pay. I slowly move through the line, as discounts are only offered in person, machines make you pay for convenience. I reach the front and the man smiles, speaking through a microphone he takes my money and gives me my ticket.

What a cool first paragraph! from the first sentence I'm riveted and I want to keep reading. If you're whole paper is this exciting it's going to be great. The only trick will be making the analysis this good, but I'm sure you can pull it off.
ReplyDeletewow, your first paragraph is awesome. Your depiction is really exquisite and totally different from others' first paragraph of the essay. It makes me really want to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteI really like this sentence, "A wall that promises escape as long as I am willing to pay. " I think it's really clever and cleverly said because movies are kind of an escape from reality for an hour or so.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if you typed this right off the to of your head, in class the other day or if this had already been thought of but props on your first paragraph! The imagery is so appealing to all of the senses, I feel like I am at the movie theater that you were at.
